Meg Ryan
Meg Ryan is a blonde-haired blue-eyed
lady with an exuberant personality. Her birth name is Margaret Mary Emily Hyra
to Susan (Duggan), she was an English teacher, and one-time actor. Harry Hyra
was a math teacher. Ruthenian and Polish, Irish, German, and German of German
descent. "Hyra" Her maternal grandmother's maiden name is Ruthenian.
Meg has graduated from Bethel High School in Bethel in May 1979. Moving to New
York, she attended New York University where she majored in journalism. To earn
extra money while completing her studies, Meg went into acting using her new
name Meg Ryan. Her debut on screen came in 1981 with a short appearance as
Candice Bergen's daughter in George Cukor’s final film Rich and Famous (1981).
She was a candidate for auditions and was named Betsy on the daytime television
soap"As the World turns (1956). She was a part of the cast from 1982 until
1984. Meg was also part of the television series One of the Boys (1982), which
was quickly put on hold. Meg moved to Hollywood in 1984 and got an interview
for the western series Wildside (1985). Meg had a small role in Top Gun (1986),
and then was part of Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) in which she starred
with Dennis Quaid. In D.O.A.'s remake, she once again was a co-star with Dennis
Quaid. (1988) They got married on Saint Valentine's Day 1991. In 1989, Meg
appeared in When Harry Met Sally... (1989) and the scene at the restaurant was
a hit. Meg was nominated to both the Golden Globe and the BAFTA. In 1990, she
co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she
played three roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. Meg was also seen with Tom in the
hugely successful Sleepless in Seattle (1993) for which she was nominated for
the Golden Globe. In 1994, Meg decided to act contrary to the norm when she
acted as an alcoholic wife and mother in the film When a Man Loves a Woman
(1994). After that, she went back to "cute" with both I.Q. (1994) and
French Kiss (1996). In 1994, Meg was awarded the Harvard Hasty Pudding Award as
"Woman of the Year" and was named as being one of "The 50 most
beautiful people in the world in 1994" by People Magazine.
