Evan Rachel Wood was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, on September 7, 1987. Her father, Ira David Wood III is a stage actor and writer, while her mother Sara Wood is an actress and acting coach. Her brothers who are older than her are Dana Wood, a musician and Ira David Wood IV who also have been actors. Evan and her brothers have performed in the Theatre In The Park, Raleigh in the same place where her father serves as the director. She was five when she auditioned to play the character in Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994). She relocated to Los Angeles with her mom and brother Ira in 1996 .
